Ein perfekter Tag in Luzern
Lucerne is an enchanting, unique city with numerous sights in a small area. The city can be explored in a wonderfully relaxed way in one day. Read on to find out what you must see, where to eat with a view and where you should sip your cocktail.
In the morning
Start your exploration tour with something that no visit to Lucerne should be without: Lucerne's landmark. The Chapel Bridge is the oldest wooden bridge in Europe and must be crossed at least once. Take note of the 17th century wooden panels portraying Swiss history.
The Chapel Bridge also takes you straight to the charming Old Town. The pedestrian zone is lined with one store after another. Don't miss the picturesque Hirschenplatz, Kornmarkt and Weinmarkt squares.
Lucerne is known for having a bakery on every corner in the Old Town. Most of them offer excellent breakfasts and brunches at affordable prices.

Afterwards, it's worth making a detour to the Lion Monument. Built to commemorate the Swiss Guards who fell in the Tuileries Storm of 1792, it was named the "most moving piece of stone in the world" by Mark Twain.
Noon
The Seebistro Luz , located directly on the lake and opposite the railroad station, offers a view of the Chapel Bridge, the lake and the mountains, making it the perfect place to fortify yourself for the afternoon in a relaxed atmosphere.

Afterwards, a boat trip around the lake is highly recommended. Explore Lake Lucerne and marvel at new breathtaking views of the surroundings of the city of Lucerne and the mountains, especially Lucerne's local mountain, Mount Pilatus.
In the evening

The Art Deco Hotel Montana offers wonderful panoramic views. The world's shortest cable car transports you from the lake up the hill and you can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine in a luxurious atmosphere.
Dine in the enchanting ambience of the Thai Garden. Through the somewhat hidden entrance, you can immerse yourself in a Far Eastern atmosphere including Asian specialties.
Our product recommendations for a short trip.
Drinks
Drinks, especially cocktails, with spectacular views of the city, lake and mountains are available in the Suite Lounge & Bar high above the rooftops of Lucerne in THE rooftop bar in Lucerne. Be there in time for sunset and enjoy a romantic end to the evening.

If you fancy more beer, we recommend the "Braui". Located directly on the Reuss, the brewery cellar produces its own Rathaus beer.
Special events
Concerts, festivals and other events take place almost daily at the Lucerne Culture and Convention Center (KKL). World-class orchestras are regular guests. The performances of the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra deserve special mention. It plays film music live while the film is shown on the big screen. In October, they will be performing the Oscar-winning film music from E.T. Inspires even otherwise reluctant concert-goers.

Would you like something a little more turbulent? No problem. Make a reservation for 23-28 February 2017, when the big carnival parades take place, with numerous Guggenmusik bands in elaborate costumes making music through the streets of Lucerne. Thousands of people in disguise bring the winter to an end with a folk festival and the city turns upside down.
