The region around Fort Myers and Sanibel Island on Florida's southwest coast is a unique natural paradise: Hundreds of partly uninhabited islands in the Gulf of Mexico with untouched beaches, exotic animals, mangrove forests and waterways make the region something very special for young and old. Pleasant water temperatures, a constantly blue sky and endless powdery white sandy beaches invite you to collect shells, dream and relax.

Setting

The region around Fort Myers and Sanibel Island is located in the tropical southwest of Florida and stretches along the warm Gulf of Mexico. With Southwest Florida International Airport, Fort Myers is easily accessible by air. Those travelling by car can reach the region in 3.5 hours by car from Orlando and a tour to Miami takes only 2 hours - ideal for a round trip.
